Vanilla Sky is in the heart of Astoria, Queens and one of the newer additions to the fro yo scene. I happened to stroll by one afternoon and had to see what it was like. It is a large self serve fro yo store with tons of seating... not something you normally find in the city. After sampling a few I decided to go with regular vanilla. I added kiwi, blueberries, a little granola and topped it off with a few chocolate cups filled with carmel.

Quality:
I'm going to have to only give 4 swirls for Vanilla Sky. The yogurt there is too creamy for me. It tastes more like soft serve than fro yo. Though after looking at the rating on yelp, many people disagree with me, so if you like the creamier fro yo this is your place.
Variety:
They offer ten different flavors at a time and have more dessert options than the average fro yo place.
Variety of Toppings:
Vanilla sky has a self serve toppings bar with a large variety. As with any self serve be careful how many toppings you put on because they add up quickly. My biggest problem is that they don't have honey!
Ambiance:
Ambiance is where Vanilla Sky shines above the rest. It is a huge store that can hold a lot of people. The front part of the store, where the fro yo is located, is very modern and has about 5 tables. The back of the store is even bigger and has exposed brick with lots of plants and sky lights to make you feel like you are outside. It is very quiet and relaxing. If I lived in the area I could see myself spending a lot of time there.
Extras: Vanilla sky not only serves fro yo, but coffee and many other drinks and snacks too. The store has free wifi so it is the perfect place to spend some time while enjoying fro yo and a drink.
