Menchies- Madison, WI

113 West Towne Mall Madison, WI 53719

Hours: Mon-Sun 11am- 10pm

Phone: (608) 828-9430

Menchies opened in Madison about nine months ago as part of an international expansion of Menchie locations. It is located at West Towne Mall so it is easy to get to and the perfect snack after shopping. After sampling a bunch of different flavors I settled on blueberry pomegranate tart. I added banana, strawberries, dark chocolate chips and a touch of honey.

Ratings (1-7 swirls)

Quality:
The yogurt was quiet tasty, but was a little too liquidy. It melted really quickly even though it wasn't very hot out.

Variety:
There were 12 different flavors and many more that are rotated in throughout the year. They even offered a popcorn flavor fro yo, but I was to nervous to try it. I love popcorn and fro yo too much to mix the two.

Variety of Toppings:
Menchies offers the usual toppings of cereal, candies, fruit and sauces. On the website they show many more interesting toppings that were not at the Madison location when I was there, but I would increase my swirl rating if the more unique toppings were offered.

Ambiance:
The store was big, bright and very clean since it is so new. There was plenty of seating inside and had a few tables outside also. When you are are in the store you forget that you are at a mall which improves the experience.

Berry Moon- Lincoln Park

2618 N Clark St. Chicago, IL 60614

Hours: Sun-Thurs 12pm-11pm
           Fri-Sat 12pm-1am

Phone: (773) 360-7758

I have walked past this place many times and decided to give it a try. I had heard a lot about Berry Moon, but it did not live up to my expectations. They put out sample cups so you can try as many flavors as you want. I tried a couple different flavors and had trouble deciding what to get because none were that great. I finally decided on Mango Tango sorbet with kiwi, blueberries, and craisins.

Ratings (1-7 swirls)

Quality:
I was not a fan of the fro yo here. I tried every fruit flavor they offered and was not impressed with a single one. The orignal, strawberry, and raspberry were all extremely creamy. I felt like I was tasting a milkshake and not in a good way. I settled on the mango because it was less creamy and had a slightly tart taste. Maybe it would be better for people that love dessert flavor fro yo.

Variety:
Berry Moon offered fourteen different flavors but three of them weren't working. Otherwise I would have given it six swirls.

Variety of Toppings:
Berry Moon offered lots of different candy, cereal and fruit toppings. There were about five liquid toppings including a peanut butter sauce, but no honey! They offered craisins which I have never seen so I decided to try it but I did not like it at all. Craisins and fro yo do not make a good combination.

Ambiance:
The store is very long and narrow so there is a little congestion by the fro yo and toppings, but there is plenty of seating.
